Apple’s iPhone in 2012 to feature 4G LTE connectivity?

With more carriers starting to roll out LTE coverage, such as AT&T who started not too long ago, with Sprint planning to start rolling out coverage of their own, and with Verizon who has been aggressively pushing out LTE coverage over the past few months, it’s only natural that more of our phones are starting to see compatibility with LTE networks, and we’re guessing it’s only a matter of time before Apple’s iPhone decides to hop aboard the LTE bandwagon as well.
Prior to the iPhone 4S, many were hoping and speculating that the next-generation iPhone (which turned out to be the 4S) would support LTE. However it has been said many times by Apple that this will not be happening any time soon due to the poor battery life that LTE devices had, and the design of chip that would force Apple to compromise on the design of their phones.
However thanks to a report by Digitimes, it seem that Apple could be launching an LTE iPhone next year, adding to the list of handset manufacturers with LTE handsets, such as HTC, Samsung, Motorola and LG. Given that we’re probably a year away from the next iPhone, it’s not a stretch to imagine that Apple will come up with a solution for LTE that will not compromise on battery or design, although given how popular the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S are, despite not having LTE capabilities, it appears that LTE may not be the priority for iPhone owners.
