Nokia Lumia 800 price, Specs and Review
Nokia Lumia 800 With partnerships with Nokia, Samsung, LG & HTC starting to come to fruition, I think it‘s quite naive to simply ignore the fact that Windows Phone will stand a pretty good chance of overtaking iOS.
Every night since last Wednesday in the UK, I’ve seen at least one Nokia Lumia 800advert on TV (sometimes more), in that whole time I’ve not seen one iPhone advert and I’ve not seen one Android advert. That’s just one little hint that Nokia intends to really push Windows Phone.
People I know who aren’t techies and had never mentioned Windows Phone before have started to ask me about Windows Phone.
In my little corner of the world, there’s some serious interest starting to brew and going forward Windows Phone will have a similar advantage as Android had/has over iPhone to really capitalise on…low – mid range devices!! I don’t care what anyone says, but iPhone‘s aren’t affordable to the masses in the same way that Android devices are and this is something that will help Windows Phone in the long run too.
The Nokia Lumia 800 is, according to CEO Stephen Elop, “the first real Windows Phone”. Other models, made by HTC and Samsung, have been decent enough, but they don’t offer the solidity of the new Nokia Lumia 800.
The operating system now boasts over 40,000 apps, too, so the two companies can claim that the partnership is already driving increased momentum for Microsoft’s superb operating system.
And although the seamless polycarbonate shell and the solidity of the device are impressive, in fact it’s the Windows Phone software that really shines. Teamed with Nokia Lumia 800 excellent design and camera heritage, there’s a lot to like, whether it’s the Office integration, gaming with Xbox live or simply social network integration.
The 3.7” screen offers Super AMOLED resolution, and Windows Phone’s living tiles really do look impressive; showing you the weather, a boarding pass or a friend’s photograph, the display hardware here is as good as this software needs. And the phone’s tactile, matte finish means the Nokia Lumia 800 is not like the bar of soap that many other phones often seem to be modelled on. It’s also pleasingly weighted, at 142g.
Unique apps on the Lumia are limited; Nokia Lumia 800Drive offers a decent satnav alternative, but so do iOS apps and so does Google Maps on any Android phone. A Music app provides pre-arranged playlists, for people who would like a radio substitute. Elsewhere, of course, other Windows Phone apps can be downloaded from the main Microsoft Marketplace.
Specs of Nokia Lumia 800 :
The Nokia Lumia 800 borrows its design ques from the company’s Nokia N9 device. It has a sleek, matte finish, sinuous curves, and a hand-feel different to just about any other device on the market. The Nokia Lumia 800 feels great in the hand thanks to the curved body and silky smooth finish. Measuring 117x61x12mm the Nokia Lumia 800 isn’t the thinnest we’ve seen and, at 142g, is about average for a smartphone. Nokia offers the same three color options, too, of black, cyan or magenta, and each are the pure hue of the plastic itself: scratch your Lumia and you won’t see grey underneath.
Nokia Lumia 800
The big difference between the Nokia Lumia 800 and previous Nokia smart phones is that this handset runs on Microsoft Windows Phone software. Nokia Lumia 800 has packed in a 1.4GHz Qualcomm MSM8255 processor alongside 512MB RAM. Windows Phone flys on the Nokia Lumia 800 and games perform very well. There’s 16GB of memory for storing music, videos, photos and apps.
Sticking with the N9 lineage and its recent preference for AMOLED in its flagship phones, Nokia has installed an 800 x 480 AMOLED display inside theNokia Lumia 800. The result is a stunning screen that works well under direct sunlight thanks to the way the curved display reflects light. Squeezed into the 3.7in display, this resolution has a high pixel density and we found images and text to be pin sharp.

Nokia Lumia 800 features an 8-megapixel Carl Zeiss rear camera. The camera features a F2.2 lens, dual LED flash and 3x digital zoom. That’s generally a good thing, as the Nokia Lumia 800 is capable of filling those eight million pixels with tons of detail and Nokia’s been very frugal with its noise reduction. The dual-LED flash works very well on nearby objects and avoids washing out scenes when it’s called into action. the Nokia Lumia 800 can record at up to 720p resolution.
The Nokia Lumia 800 includes a 1450mAh battery, capable of a talk time of up to 9.5 hours (on 3G), standby of 335 hours and up to 55 hours of music playback and 7 hours of video. Its call quality is great. The ear piece delivers clean and crisp audio and is also loud enough to let you hear callers above the din of noisy bars or busy streets. Nokia Lumia 800
